NO COSTUME FOR THIS DUDE

This dude says he doesn't want to dress up tonight. He's grown too big for Halloween apparently. I think I was about his age (age 10) when I gave it up too. He looked at me and said..."I'll just help Kenidi trick or treat for her candy." I'm sure he'll be helping her eat it too. Ha ha! That is quite alright with me though. The less candy in this house the better. :) They just had their shiny white teeth cleaned at the dentist on Thursday and the thought of them sugar coating those pearly whites over the weekend makes me physically ill. A kid needs to be a "kid" though.

Thanks to all of you who have emailed or written me in the past week asking if I'm OK. I guess my lack of blog posts lead you to think something could be wrong. Nope...I'm just extremely busy right now. Our family schedule is only going to get even more hectic in the next three weeks. I'll explain more on that later. I'm also in the middle of a 6 week course for photoshop training and that takes time each day as I must complete classes/lessons and submit assignments every day over the next 6 weeks as well. Fun stuff! So...just bare with me. I'm still here and still blogging but the past few days have been hectic as far as my to do list goes and previous engagements go.

I hope each of you have a great night of goblins and ghosts with your little ones this evening and that all of you stay warm while doing so. It's only supposed to be a high of 50 degrees here in Indiana today so I'm assuming tonight will be really chilly. For that reason, I doubt we stay outside too overly long. If the weather temp is under 65 degrees, I'm a real weenie! A big baby is more like it. In my past life I am thinking that I was birthed in the sand, in the Sahara desert maybe. It's the only explanation I can come up with regarding my dislike with cold weather/cool weather. So look for me to be layered up in multiple layers tonight and my kids as well. Yes, we'll look like Bob Gregory's long lost relatives. No doubt! (Sorry...only you long time Hoosiers will get that private joke)

PS...Have your little ones click HERE for some Halloween fun! Happy haunts...Angie

WORDLESS WEDNESDAY

SUNSETS IN BONITA

We hit the beach for sunset while in Bonita this past weekend. Aside from some cloud cover that particular evening which ultimately took away from my sunset photos, it was a beautiful night. Of course neither of my children cooperated for any shots so I just shot things to be "shooting things." Story of my life with them these days. ;0)

Our Fall break get-a-way was gorgeous as always. It was in the high 80's and 90's while we were there. It's always funny to hear the Floridian locals complain about how hot it is when we've just come from thirty something degree temps. The locals say that they would love to have our rain, cool weather, and snow. The grass is always greener on the other side, isn't it? Let a true Floridian spend 2 weeks in our doom and gloom weather and I promise you that they will rethink Florida being "too hot." Ha ha! I mean how could you give up this...

for cooler weather and snow??? I don't think they could - when it came down to it - and push came to shove. I mean why would they want to. Really. Why???

The kids had a ball as always - on the beach. And like always, Kenidi caused a scene when it was time for us to leave. The entire crowd of onlookers, lined up like it was the 4th of July, were scared out of their beach chairs by her blood curdling screams. Yes, she again made it appear as though we were kidnapping her. Kidnapping her from the beach. From her sea of happiness. As I've said before, I can't say that I blame her. I'd throw a fit like that and have a melt down on the beach when having to leave as well if I could. If I did that though, I'm sure the onlookers would call the cops on me. No doubt! I'd be in a straight jacket the next day too. You all would be visiting me in an institution with 4 white walls. Somehow I'd manage to steal some paint and sketch a mural of the ocean on my white walled canvas though. I'm sure of that too. My Mom brought me a picture the other day that I had drawn back in middle school for art class. Guess what the drawing/picture was of? Yeap, a beach scene. We got to laughing and talked about how I've been obsessed with palm trees, sand, and the sea since a young girl - since way back - and how that scene is even more ingrained in me as an adult now. Clearly my kids are the same way...(playing with some photoshop actions below)

I read somewhere recently where the ocean is "intoxicating." When I read that, the only thing that came to mind was WOW! It is "intoxicating." So, so, true. I become drunk in the white wave caps every time that I'm there. And if there is ever such thing as an addict or someone truly addicted to the beach, it is definitely me. I walk around totally intoxicated by its beauty each time I'm there. The feeling never wears off - no matter how many times I have or haven't seen it. The sound of the crashing waves and the feeling of warm, sun drenched shoulders, is something that always leaves you wanting more. I have an addiction that cannot be cured. I will never be able to sober up and I'm OK with that. Totally OK with it.

And when I get older, I hope and pray with every fiber of my being that I'm somewhere near a beach so that I can do this every night that I so choose...

God's presence cannot be denied when sitting next to the sea. It just can't. And it is in those moments, with God, me, and the sea...that I feel most empowered. Most healed. Most driven. Most strong. Most intelligent. Most motivated. Most comforted. Realigned and ready to conquer the world. It is via God and the sea that I've found my ability to recharge, clear my head, and press on. This trip was no different. This I know for sure...God has HUGE plans for our family of four. For me. I feel a tug again. A big tug. An emotional tug. One that will test my tear ducts to the core soon. Very soon. In the end, I know God is holding my hand and opening doors for me, for us - our family of four - that only he wants opened. I'm not in control. We aren't in control. Never have been really. And truthfully...I don't want to be. I've given up all control and laid it at "His" feet. I cried to a dear friend on the phone today when she referenced that she "doesn't know how I do it." My response...with God...and only God. I couldn't do it without him and don't know how others get thru life without him. It breaks my heart to think about how many are actually walking around without him. As Jasmine Star said today (one of my favorite photographers of all time), "Today I plan to make yesterday jealous. And tomorrow, I'll make today jealous." That my friends...is my new motto in life.

Looking forward to the months ahead and all of the exciting changes God is about to throw our way...Angie

LOVE MY TERVIS!

I got a text from a blog reader/friend from Atlanta last week and it read like this..."Do you have a Tervis Tumbler?" I immediately laughed out loud because I thought...Oh boy do I ever have some Tervis Tumblers! The Swoozie's store introduced me to Tervis Tumblers last year and I've never been without one since. This sweet friend from Atlanta was thinking of me and our trips to Florida. She was familiar with Tervis Tumblers and was planning to bring me one when we are here at Thanksgiving next month - and when her family is coming here to vacation that week as well. Our plans are to meet up in person for the first time EVAH and she was ever so kind as to question whether I knew of or had a TT because she knew I'd be able to put it to good use here at our Florida home (or anywhere else for that matter). In turn, I let her know that we had tons of TT's here at the house in FL and that I absolutely love them. I thanked her for thinking of me and continued to laugh when I thought about how much alike we must be. :) Fast forward to yesterday. I was sitting by the pool and looked over to grab a drink of my ice cold caffeine free coke. It dawned on me that I had poured it into my Tervis Tumbler. I again laughed and thought I'd take a photo of it for Heidi. (my friend in Atlanta) I snapped the shot and posted it on my facebook page for her. Well...I got several facebook friends who saw the note/photo for Heidi who then left notes reiterating how much they love their TT's too. But...I also got a ton of emails or private messages asking me what a Tervis Tumbler was.

So...let me formally introduce you...for those who aren't from the south or whom aren't familiar with Tervis Tumblers in general. The shot of the one above is a TT that I keep here at the Florida house. You can get personalized tumblers, tumblers with your own photos in them (LOVE!), breast cancer awareness tumblers, sports team tumblers, etc. The list goes on and on. The cool thing about these is that they are guaranteed for life. Tervis will replace a tumbler if one becomes defective in any way. Same goes for their lids and straws. These tumblers really last forever. No joke! They keep hot drinks hot and cold drinks colder longer. Hot drinks stay hot for up to 3 hours and if you use a lid, they'll stay hot for up to 6 hours - making them great for soups. I know some people who use their tumblers to eat ice cream out of. They are just grand for cold drinks on a hot day though. Thus, why they are perfect by the pool or on the beach. If you get the chance to visit a Swoozie's store and buy some Tervis Tumblers, getcha' some. If you don't have a swoozie's near by, check the Tervis website for a store closest to you.

On another note, it appears that our little Kenidi Grace has spiked a fever as of this morning. The doc saw her today and said to keep a close eye on it. If it continues to climb, he wants us to bring her back tomorrow morning so that he can test her for H1N1. If she tests positive for it, she is eligible for the tamiflu. (due to her seizure disorder/Epilepsy) So...we are praying that it is a fluke thing and just a weird bug she picked up while on the flight down here. Please say a prayer for her if you can. At the moment, she is playing fine and acts totally normal. You wouldn't know anything was amiss if you didn't know she had a fever. We are just enjoying the sunshine and the dry weather in the meantime. Speaking of that...I wanted to post another image for my Hoosier friends. The shot below is a little piece of sunshine & blue skies for each of you. The image reminds me of the tropics and nothing but. It was a little clearing that I noticed yesterday while sitting out by the pool. I decided to snap a shot of it and I'm glad I did. It is the epitome' of Florida - the swaying palms and baby blue sky line...

We heard it is still raining there in Indy so I just thought I'd post a shot of some warm and dry weather for y'all. High today is 90 degrees here in gorgeous Bonita Springs/Naples. Don't worry, I'm bottling up the sunshine and bringing it back for everyone. I promise! :)

PS...I'm apparently having email trouble again. A few people have emailed me and I didn't get their emails. If you've emailed me in the past two days and I haven't responded, I most likely didn't get your email at all. You might have to try resending. I'm so sorry. My Internet provider clearly hates me. Ha ha!

xoxo, Angie

BLOGGING FROM 34,000 FEET

I'm blogging from the friendly blue skies right now. The sun is a bright and glowing vibrant pink and orange color combo. It's way more potent then the sun flare in the photo above (taken back in the spring of this year). We are leveled off at a smooth 34,000 feet. Kenidi is playing with play dough and Brennen is jamming out to Michael Jackson on his ipod. Daddy is jamming to his ipod as well but I can't hear his choice in music like I can Brennen's. We are an hour into the two hour flight and things are going well thus far. We should touch down sometime around 9:15am Florida time. If able, later tonight, I might blog again should I have any images worthy of an update. Until then, thank you for all of your prayers for safe travels and for the prayers for calm 6 year old little girls on the plane. So far...your prayers are working. :-)

Much love, Angie

MARKETING FUN

All of these cards and marketing materials are packed and ready to go in my suitcase. They are flying south for the winter tomorrow. Wink wink! ;) I blurred out and photo shopped out some of the text - like my phone # and such - for those of you blog stalkers who would like to call and prank me. Ha ha! :) The lab I use for my photography prints totally ROCKS and I couldn't be more happy with the end result that I got when I used that same lab to print all of my marketing materials. I also couldn't be more happy with the work that Crystal did in helping me to design and pull together my materials. I now have stacks and stacks of promo materials that will be hand delivered into Southwest Florida beginning tomorrow. I hope to saturate the market there in the coming months. My family and I fly out early tomorrow morning and will be spending Fall break at our home away from home in the sunshine next to the sea. I'm sitting here staring at a suitcase that has yet to be stuffed with our clothes for the next several days. Can anyone say "wwaayyyy behind!!!???" On another note though...I'm sporting the "coolest Mom in the world" award this week. Why you ask? Well, because my son now has his very own custom calling cards...

While ordering all of my promo materials, we opted to order Brennen some of his very own "business cards" so to speak for all of his little buddies. (and the adorable & ever so trendy little girl down the street whom he commonly refers to as his 'girlfriend.') The killa' thing about that is that when all of his little buddies have taken the cards home to show their Mom and Dad in hopes of getting their own custom calling cards, each card has my photography website address on the back of it. So...guess who is getting sessions booked off of the wonderful work of a bunch of little 5th graders? Yeap, muah...all because they showed the card to their parents and the parents saw on the cards who did the photography and ultimately went to my website. Suddenly these families now have a need for portraits. Uh huh...not only am I the coolest and most "awesome-est" Mom in the world for producing the calling cards but I'm also killing two birds with one stone - holding the coolest Mom title and marketing my name incognito via some fun 5th graders. They are H-I-R-E-D!!! Totally hired!!! Ha ha! Don't hate! :)

For now though, I'm off to go finish start packing the suitcases. Our 7am flight to the beach calls and I don't dare miss it. Like always, any prayers you can send up for our safe travels, smooth flights, and calm 6 year old daughters during "said smooth flights" would be GREAT! I'll blog from the beach as usual and hope to have some nice images to share from our quick jaunt. Oh and for those of you who've been one of the many who emailed me about the cookie diet...I haven't started it yet. I decided I wanted to stuff my big, fat, face with Florida surf and turf first before I tortured myself with a diet - even if it does consist of only cookies. Winking uncontrollably... ;-)

FALL IN INDIANA

This is what I woke up to this morning. Colors and warm sunshine peering out over the treetops from our front yard. This my friends, is the Midwest at its finest. Indiana at its best! And although there is a layer of frost on the ground like the sides of a clear frosty mug, I'm still enjoying the fact that we finally have sunshine again after what seems like 'for-EVA' without it. :)

I have a ton to get done today and very little time to accomplish it all in. Suitcases to pull out for our beach trip next week, packing to begin, birthday gifts to purchase, physicals to be had for the kids at their pediatricians office, and lastly...I'm off to find and conquer some new "cookie diet" that I heard about on the Today show yesterday. Oh yes, I'm that lame. Totally that lame! Anything involving cookies for 70% of the day is right up my alley. I don't care if it makes sense or not. In my mind it will make sense and that is all that matters. Stay back all of you health nut nutritionists. I know its wrong in so many ways but ask me if I care. Ha ha!

So for now, I'm off to throw on my red cape and attempt to carry out the role of Super Mom and Super wife today. Wish me luck! Enjoy your weekend home-eezz! :)

Peace out (insert puckered pout lips and an AGD gang sign here...wink wink!), Ang

BOREDOM

Just playing tonight...playing with fun graphics and pictures. I'm bored. Can ya' tell?

The weather is calling for possible snow flurries here in Indy tomorrow. Yeah, I said it...snow flurries. I've had to cancel three photography sessions this weeItalick all due to the weather. Ummmm...happy...No, not so much! In the meantime, I'm inside shooting my own kids instead. Shooting dumb stuff like flip flops, sun tan oil, beach towels, and shells. So what if I'm not right and totally dreaming of our beach trip next week. At least I'm killing time until we fly out - out of this ridiculous Indiana weather - even if my form of killing time isn't in the most productive of ways. I'm bored - tired of being cooped up inside - cut a girl some slack, will ya'? I'm ready for Fall break vacation. So are my kiddo's. Interesting fact I learned this week...??? Florida schools don't have "Fall break." How odd is that? What would we do without Fall break? They also don't have snow make-up days. Instead...they are called "Hurricane" make-up days. Tad wild, isn't it? I learn something new everyday.

Until tomorrow, I'm still watching and reading the contest entries roll in for the give-a-way going on. You know...the camera give-a-way below??? Jump in and enter while you can. The comment section will soon be closed and we'll be drawing a lucky winner. Oh fun, fun, fun!

On another note...I've opened up another Angie Seaman Photography online class. It's set to begin January 4th, 2010 - after all of the holiday hoopla. It's sure to be a great class and one that will fill up and sell out like the others have. I didn't want to offer a class anytime over the next few months because I know all of us will be so very busy with normal seasonal festivities. Therefore, if you wish to reserve a spot, register now while you can. We've already begun the sign ups and spots are filling fast. For now, I'm off to enjoy my warm evening indoors with my family. Sorry to have rambled. I told you guys I was bored. ;0)

Much love, Ang

FEELING THE NEED TO GIVE

The Indiana doom and gloom is killin' me! I just can't take it anymore. So...when trying to pep myself up today and in my attempts to not fall victim to this depressing weather, I knew that I had to find something fun to do. Beings that I can't get outdoors and shoot because of the weather, I still had "photography" on the brain. If I can't have fun shooting with a camera, then maybe...just maybe I can have fun "giving away" a camera. :) Yeah, that's it!!! Let's give away a camera on behalf of Angie Seaman Photography.

Here we go...

Fuji has introduced an awesome new toy called the Fuji Instax Instant camera. I love it. Love, love, love it!!! It's a playback to the old Polaroid cameras just with an all new sleek and modern look.

The images are instant and come out of the camera in the size of credit card sized photos. LOVE THAT! The prints come out on Bold Fuji film but still contain that old vintage look of a Polaroid image. Can someone say...."L-O-V-E vintage?" The camera itself is equipped with four exposure settings which was unheard of back in the day of Polaroids. Also included is a built in flash and a sweeping wide angle lens. AWWWEEEESSSSOOOMMMME!!!

The camera runs on 4 simple little double AA batteries. No USB cord, no computers, no memory cards, etc. involved. It's just you, the camera, your instant film (which houses 20 exposures per box), and good ol' fashioned fun!

This little trendy fashionista of a camera would make for a great Christmas gift for any loved one on your list. It would be a ROCKIN' birthday gift for your bestie. Or...it would be an incredible impromptu gift for the loved one in your life who is obsessed with photography, cameras, etc. like muah! You can't go wrong with this little dude. It's all the rage and I can't spread the word about it fast enough. The value of the camera and the film being given away is $105. So...won't you help me in forgetting about the Indiana doom and gloom weather - and instead help me to spread the word about the Angie Seaman Photography give-a-way starting now.

For your chance to win this camera and a roll of coordinating film, leave your name and why you want this camera below in the comment section. Let me know why you are the best candidate to win this camera and what you plan to use it for. I'll close off the comment section in a couple of days. Until then, get to entering. Oh yeah...and for every person who puts a write up on their blog about this give-a-way (directing them back here to the AGD blog to enter), you will get 5 extra names in the hat. That means 5 more chances then someone else to win. Please note: you don't have to have a blog to enter. Have fun with it and thanks in advance for helping me spread the word about this kickin' little camera. I feel better already! :)

Much love, Angie
PS...No, I'm not getting paid for this plug. I just love a good product when I see one. :) You guys always say you love hearing about my "favorite finds." Well, this is one of my all time favs as of late. Side note: All photos in this post are from the awesome photojojo website. Go pay them a visit if you'd like to order the fuji instax camera ASAP.

ROCKIN' & ROLLIN' WITH THE B-STER

I had a great shoot with a very handsome ten year old boy yesterday. He opted for a grungy urban approach so we rocked it out with his guitar and rolled thru the small town creating a stir with his skateboard. The locals knew we weren't from around those parts but they enjoyed observing the shoot go down either way. In fact, the event created quite an audience on the street. We had fun with it and my subject enjoyed every second of it.

This small town has a great old and worn feel. Thus, why I love it. It was perfect for our backdrop...

Even though we did have to share our alley ways with another photographer who showed up during our session and ultimately got all up "in my grill" as they would say. Yes, she even proceeded to come shoot back to back with me - literally 2 feet from where I was shooting in the same spot. Come on now peeps...the world is an open and free space but can you at least wait your turn??? Patience is key my friend. Patience. Funny thing was, she would shoot up against each wall I had used and everywhere I had just shot. Brent text'ed me a text message across my phone at one point (he was several feet away and watching from afar). His text message made me laugh. All it said was "COPY CAT." (meaning H-E-R) I had to refrain from busting out laughing right in front of her because she was back to back with me at that second. Funny stuff! I almost had to yell..."Step off" at one point. However, what will be - will be. It's all good!

I told my subject that he should have his "Mom" make the shot shown below into a big poster or canvas wall wrap in his bedroom. It looks like something straight off the front of a CD case...

The shot below was his serious look. Dontcha' love it??? That blue, roughed up, wall makes me swoon...

And this is how he rolls...

I told Brent that he looks so grown up, like a teenager in these two pictures (above and below). Where has our baby gone?

I never knew a blue dumpster could look so good. Wink wink! ;0)

And just for fun...

Thanks for rocking and rolling with me yesterday "B-Ster." It was a very cool session and one that I'll remember always. :)

I love you, Mom

PS...Girls, he is t-a-k-e-n!

COLORS OF FALL

Fall is in full force here in Indiana. There are mums everywhere. Side thought...I wonder if Florida has mums in the fall. ;) Wink wink! Although I've never cared for the true look of a mum, I do like their colors. When paired together with multiple hues/color combos, they are fierce in the eye candy department.

It is a brisk 57 degrees here in Indy at the moment so we are heading out as fam, to do a photo shoot. A photo shoot with a handsome young stud in a small urban town - a 10 year old boy who suddenly wants his pictures taken now that he has seen another cute boy gracing the front & back sides of his Moms photography business cards. Yes friends, we have spotted a tinge of jealousy recently since Brennen found out that because he wouldn't model for me, I ultimately had to use another child - another boy - in my marketing material. Needless to say, he is now extremely excited about the shoot today and so am I. I hope to have some images to share with each of you following the big event. Pray for my sanity though. Between him telling me what he is and isn't going to wear for the shoot and him telling me which skateboard, guitar, etc. that he is or isn't going to bring, I finally told him that I was fixin' to fire him as my "client." He has been warned that I'm running the show today - as Mom AND as "photographer." Ha ha! I've sent the bribe masters into overtime and basically coerced him into believing that when I do my job as a photographer, kids ALWAYS listen to me and that they ALWAYS do what I tell them to. We'll see how long I can roll with this ridiculous story before it all crumbles in my lap - or in front of my lens rather. Just wish us luck. I'm embarking on uncharted territory with this one.

Happy Saturday, Ang

FOTO FIND FRIDAY

Well, beings that it is still pouring down rain outside, I had to resort to something indoors for the foto find Friday this week. And beings that I needed to submit an assignment yesterday for a class that I'm currently taking regarding the ins and outs of flash photography, I thought I'd just use one of the images taken inside our home for the class. Now...here is the kicker...what theme am I after this week you ask? Good question. Considering how my creative juices have been stunted by the rain outside & the walls inside our house, lets say that the theme for this week is going to be "round." Yes, round. Like roundness. Circular, a sphere, a circle, a ball, a wheel, etc. - just anything exhibiting a round shape. How korny, right? Hey...at least we have a topic this week. That is a plus ladies. I promise you that is a plus. Ha ha!

So...my submission this week is centered around the round nautical accessories that I have always loved on our great room coffee table. Due to the rain, I'm feeling beach withdraws. Gasp! Imagine that, eh? Thus where the nautical display comes in. Eleven more days. I just keep telling myself that I need to make it thru 11 more days. Anywho...I used these accessories yesterday for an assignment that I did in my flash photography class. I'm definitely a natural light girl but I'm really enjoying learning the ins and outs of my SB-900 Speedlight flash. Unfortunately the flash unit itself is like learning your camera all over again (yeap, a manual and an auto mode on the flash unit too) but it is so worth it. Not only that but my instructor ROCKS so it really makes the whole process so much fun. Therefore, without further ado, here are my nautical balls...(shhh....don't laugh - I'm trying to remain serious and not crack a smile when I type nautical balls. Wink wink!)

I love product shots. Maybe it is my background with my AGD line and knowing that I have to shoot an object with the intention of "selling" it. I don't know. Either way, product shots are fun for me. I find it a challenge to photograph the subject in the best and most flattering angle possible. Product shots are proof that anything can be photographed and made to appear interesting. It's just all in how you go about the angle, the approach, etc. when capturing its purpose. Just like with humans and photography, the key to product shots are finding that particular products "best side." So...now that I've rambled a bit, how about you join in this week with me? You don't have to do a product shot, but if you want to, feel free. No matter what, just make sure that your submission revolves around something "round." Sound good? For now, I am off to tend to Kenidi. She was home feeling under the weather yesterday and now the school just called and told us to come and pick her up again because they wanted her out for a full 24 hours before coming back due to the H1N1 flu scare. Brent just left to go grab her from school. I look like something the cat drug in and didn't dare go pick her up myself at the moment. :)

If you'd like to participate in the foto find Friday "round" theme this week, please blog a post on your own blog that has pictures pertaining to this weeks theme. Also, please make sure that you mention and link back to this AGD blog when you place the post on your own blog. We need you to make sure your link takes us directly to that specific post for this weeks theme (and not your blog home page). Also, please make sure that your post includes the info that links back to AGD. If those two things are not there, your link will unfortunately be deleted and you'll have to re-post it the requested way. We are looking forward to seeing your submissions. Have fun with it! ☮ & ♥, Angie
