CHICAGO WORKSHOP - KENNEDY

Like I was partial to the last model, (Melanie), because of her Naughty Monkey shoes...I am also partial to this model because of her name. Kennedy. Yes, she has my daughter's name. We spell our gorgeous girls name this way...KENIDI...but it is all the same name. And I love it. Meet Kennedy. She was our 2nd live model for our downtown Chicago Photography shoot. Can anyone say "Beautiful?" This girl was 6'3" with her heels on and boy did she have some legs. Legs that most women only dream of. Kennedy's personality was a bit more stoic but she ROCKED her shoot just like Melanie did. The images above and below are proof...

At one point, I asked Kenidi to climb up on top of this bridge ledge (shown above). Yes, she had high heels on and yes...she did it - like a pro. She had a very short mini skirt style dress on and she got right up there like she had done this a million and one times. I love how the urban-esque back drop seeped from this image. Her fancy dress with the rust and dirt from the bridge behind her made my heart skip a beat. She was a natural!

Every which way she turned...the girl had automatic catch lights in her beautiful brown eyes (as shown above). Stunning!

Her teeth were white as snow. Gorgeous!

She really worked that "stoic" look. I had never seen anything like it...

Keep in mind...there were people all over the place around us. We were downtown on the river. For every 10 people, there were another 100. She took this session and kicked its heiney - acting as if she was the only one around. People were staring, men were gawking...it was all out chaos. However, you would have never guessed it by her demeanor in these images.

Next up, our instructor (shown in the white hat above), whipped out her pocket wizards and allowed us to use our flashes with them. I am a natural light photographer but it was waaayyyy fun to experiment with the flash, the pocket wizards, and even the gels. The gels she used were cool. If you notice, she has a blue one held over her flash in the image above. Take a good glance at that image. Notice how bright it is - still daylight out? Now look at the images below and see how the flash and the gels alter the image and give it a very "drama driven" look. Almost like it is night time. The gels are a fun tool for Senior style portraits.

The flash set up was a powerful tool to learn. I loved every second of it. It will really come in handy this winter here in Indy. (while having to shoot indoors) That is unless we decide to pack up and move our butts to Florida soon. If that is the case, I won't need an indoor studio during the winter. We can just rock out beach sessions all day long - all year long. Hummmm???? Sounds good, eh? I'm thinking so too. We were supposed to be there - at the beach this past weekend for a long Labor Day weekend get-a-way. However, life called and we stayed home. I missed being there. Missed my beach B/F/F's. Missed sugaring my toes in the sand. Missed listening to Kenidi and Brennen crack up while playing at the shore line. I guess I'll just have to wait till' next month - over Fall break - before I can smell the sea face to face again. God knows I need the beach and its solace now more then anything. However, "home" is more important then there right now. I know it is waiting on me. Waiting on our return come October 21st. The ocean is ready to help me reset, regroup, refocus. Until then, I'm pretending as though I'm already there.

I had so much fun at this workshop. I learned a ton and will put all of it to good use in the coming months. Again, a huge thanks to the live models (Kennedy and Melanie) as well as to our instructor, Debbie. We walked away with a wealth of information due to this experience. What an awesome opportunity it was!!!

For now, I'm off to finish my day. Errands, errands, and more errands. My to do list is growing by leaps and bounds. Story of my life. Hope all of you are enjoying this gorgeous Thursday. xoxo, Angie

CHICAGO WORKSHOP - MELANIE

Hi all. Happy Tuesday. I hope each of you are in your "moment" and enjoying each second of it on this wonderful day. I thought I'd pop on and share some shots from one of my model shoots in Chicago last weekend. Meet Melanie. She was a doll. Great personality and absolutely adorable.

Melanie was a paid model and worked for about 3.5 hours for us that day if I remember correctly. She was such a trooper and totally ROCKED this shoot for us.

Melanie's eyes were absolutely stunning. They were "piercing" actually. I soooo wished God would have blessed me with blue eyes like this. Love them!

Melanie laughed right along with us even though she had to be freezing in her sleeveless blouse. It was a tad chilly in Chicago last weekend but again...she ROCKED the shoot...

I also loved her because she had my same "naughty monkey" shoes/heels. Great taste she had. Great taste. Ha ha! In my opinion, no one makes a good pair of rockin' heels for that perfect pair of jeans like "naughty monkey" does. And I mean NO ONE! :)

Needless to say, I loved Melanie. Like others in the past, she made my job very easy. Thank you Melanie! I had a blast. Stay tuned for more Chicago photos to come. If you are in need of a photographer, you know how to find me. You can also visit my photography website and blog by going HERE. My October dates are filling up fast. Get with me ASAP if you are interested in a Fall portrait session or Christmas photos. I'd love to work with you and/or your family. xoxo, Angie

MY CHICAGO WORKSHOP GIRLS

Meet some of the wonderful ladies from my Chicago Photography workshop. Loved these gals. I met some fantabulous new "friends." It is a great thing when you can spend a weekend with 10 other women who share the exact same passion as you do. It's so fun to talk camera gear, lenses, software programs, locations, etc. Unfortunately, I didn't get everyone in on these pictures. I am missing some of the girls and I am so upset about that. I wish I would have had the allotted time to snap everyone included in the workshop. For now though, this is all I got.

In the photo below, you'll see our instructor, Debbie. She is wearing the white hat. This woman is a wealth of information and I'm very thankful for her willingness to share her knowledge with us newbies. I'm realizing more and more how rare that is in the photography industry. Thank you Debbie. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

This shot below is what it looked like as Debbie was taking a shot of one of my fellow workshop classmates...

This is what it looked like from my angle when it was my turn to take the same shot...

At certain points we had to practice on one another. Here is another one of my workshop classmates. Gorgeous - just gorgeous...

One of the classmates ran into a group of people she knew down by the river in downtown Chicago. I snapped this shot of her snapping them. I love their smiles and laughs in this picture. So genuine. So fun!

Practicing on classmates again...Look at her awesome eyes...

I broke out my wide angle lens and snapped a couple of architecture shots real quick at one point. Love those landscapes...especially with blue skies and white clouds.

I of course wish I would've had the opportunity to finish and complete the workshop as I had planned on. However, life called. I'm sending a big hug and thank you to all of my workshop gals that have emailed and called me throughout this past week. You girls are just gems and have each left lasting impressions on my heart. Thank you for taking me in, lifting me up, and comforting me over the past 7 seven days. I feel like I've known you ladies all of my life at this point. I'm so blessed to have crossed paths with each of you and am very grateful for your friendships.

And speaking of Big papa, I haven't had my camera out in over a week now and I think I'm beginning to go into convulsions. Wink wink! ;) You are talking about someone who takes pictures EVERYDAY. Therefore, to go a full week without snapping the shutter on Big Papa is insane for me. I'm feeling a serious urge to go shoot. In the meantime though, I have a ton of model shoots from the Chicago workshop to post and share here on the blog as well as sessions yet to be shared from my time with Leah still. My blogging is beginning to back up. OCD issues are starting to rear their ugly heads for me. For instance, the hundreds of emails in my inbox or the hundreds of private messages in my facebook inbox. I have issues with having more then 2-3 emails awaiting replies in my inbox. Let alone the 100's that are in there right now. I know...I'm not right! Trust me though - I've read every single one - every single email from each of you. I am replying to them but it is taking me some time. I want to respond to each one from my heart and therefore, if you've emailed me in the past week or facebook'ed a private message to me...I thank you. I got it and I have no words. A big huge thank you to all of you for wrecking my mascara this week. Ha ha! Love you gals...
Much love, Angie

PS...Foto Find Friday will now be back this coming Friday (hopefully). I didn't have time to mess with it yesterday as I had hoped.
