I am DYING to know what you did to add so much dimension to the clouds in your first picture. I have googled everything I can think of looking for a tutorial!! I guess I am sort of a lurker... I love your blog, but I don't think I have commented before. Your pictures are amazing and I love your stories!! I would love to sign up for your photography class but we will be out of town during that time. Maybe next time!! :) Anyway, if you have any hints or suggestions about the clouds I would LOVE to hear them. I have a Nikon D50 and just the basic lenses 18-55mm and 55-200mm. And I just got Lightroom for Christmas. Thanks!!!
Hi Leigh. First off, thank you so very much for your compliments on my images/blog. I greatly appreciate that. You are too sweet!
As for the dimension you mentioned in the cloud photo, I wish I could give you some step by step instructions on how to achieve that look. Unfortunately, it is just the lens (12-24mm Nikon wide angle) and the clouds themselves together with the lens that give off that look. I didn't do anything but snap the photo. The clouds were already that whispy/cirrus look and those are the best clouds when shooting with a wide angle lens (in my personal opinion anyway) A wide angle lens has a way of making every image look spectacular. (thus why I've missed my 12-24mm lens so much while it was in the repair shop over the past 2 weeks) LOL!
Sorry that I'm no help and that there isn't a tried and true tutorial for something like this. Bottom line, the 12-24mm lens is the perfect example of what "great glass" on a lens can do for your images. It all goes back to the old saying that "we get what we pay for." My 12-24mm is one of the most expensive lenses I own but it was truly worth every penny.
Again...thank you for your kind words. And yes...should you ever get the chance to take the online class, we'd love to have you. We have a lot of fun in the classes. Good times-good times! :)
PS...Thanks for being a blog reader too. Love that!
Blessings, Angie
That's it!!~~I'm packing my suitcases and heading that way, even if I have to ski most of the way there! Your yard looks gorgeous. I would be lying if I said I wasn't jealous. This weather up here is downright painful.
I'm with you...Goodbye 2009---I hate you! Honestly, 2009 was officially the worst year of my life. I have never been so happy to start a new year and move forward.
I hope you feel better soon. We're all sick up here too. Not H1N1, though, thank God!
Feel better soon, girlie, and Happy New Year!
Happy New Year to my Beautiful Family! Awesome Picture Honey , Get Well baby girl!xoxoxoxo
