THE TRADE OFF

I just had a conversation with myself. It went something like this...

"Self...I would just like to know what normal, healthy, soul would choose to live in a climate such as this one - shown above and below? By choice?"

What on earth possesses me to put up with this torturous Indiana environment? I have a husband that would move south - to Florida in an instant - the second I said the word. However, I choose to continue basking in the gray, dark, dreary, cold, skies of an Indiana winter/early Spring. What possesses me to keep enduring this? Who possesses me to keep enduring this is more like it. Yes, you all know who...! It's my lovely parents that keep my soul grounded here in Indiana. It is they who beacon my heart and to whom which I could never bare the thought of trading this...

For this...

or even this...

Yes, it is my parents whom I give up this...

and this...

and him...

and her...

for.

I willingly give all of it and all of "them" up for my parents. Why? Because I'd be like a light house without a light, a beach without waves, like sand without sea shells, or like a palm tree without leaves. Simply put...I'd be 'a life without life' if my parents weren't within driving range of me. Not just any driving range either but no more than a 45 minute driving range at that. Even a span of 45 minutes is technically too far. Too distant for my health. Too gapped for my comfort level. Therefore, I know that unless they pack up and ever come with us, I'll always be giving up this...

and them...

and beach access #5 with the lost glasses...

for this...

Thankfully though...in less than 36 hours...we'll once again be back in our home away from home. The place that makes Indiana "doable." The place where doing this...

makes "Hoosier Life" livable.

The place where I hope to find and shoot many more new and interesting beach shots for all of you - my treasured AGD blog readers - in the coming week. The place that makes the word "vacation" cause heart palpitations. Especially for me.

Thanks for always putting up with my count downs as we approach our family beach get-a-ways. I know it must get old, boring, and monotonous for most of my readers. However, it is a part of me that cannot be tamed. My love for the beach always overflows within me to the point where it's uncontainable. I truly appreciate how each of you allow me to share my love for the sea here - on the blog - no matter how many times you must see me write/post/photograph it. In a nutshell, thanks for allowing me to "rub it in" so to speak and yet have you still love me. :) Bottom line, just want to give ya'll a big, HUGE, thanks for letting me share my obsession with each of you so very often.

Until the 24 hour countdown begins tomorrow, thank you. Thank you. Thank you! xoxo, Angie

PS...And just in case you were wondering...my parents are wayyyyyyyy worth the trade off. :)

Oh my little Beach Bum. I was all ready to point out the fact that you are having "conservations" with your self and then you go and throw in that last line about the parents being worth it, Darn! You know I am a quick packing Momma! Would go in a New York Minute! You all have a very safe trip and think about your poor ol Mommy, all pale and Lonely.(boo hoo) Better change that conservations before the Grammar Police come, hee hee. I love you Guys!

Your posts always make me smile. I agree, if you get rid of the countdowns then you would no longer be Angie to me, even though I don't really "know" you....it is part of what I know you to be.

I live on the beach through your beautiful photos while you are there. Thanks for sharing them with us. Hope your trip is FANTABULOUS!!!

Mom...got it changed. Thanks for making me aware of it before those grammar and spelling police attacked me again. Gosh knows I don't want to give them more of me to talk about. HA!

What would I do without ya? Love you, Me

PS...Alice, thank you so much for your kind words. You are ever so sweet~! I'll make sure to get some new and updated beach shots for you while there this next week. Hugs, Angie

Angie,

I love, love, love the beach, too!
So I have to live vicariously through you right now.

I will say that in 1992, I lived in Florida for about a year and a half. It was great, but is a far different experience living it day in and day out. I had a 5 minute drive to the beach...and my office building was an all glass building in Treasure Island across the street from the beach.

Girl, I had to go to the tanning bed to get sun. Life gets crazy and suddenly the vacation is not quite like life and THEN you actually do miss the seasons and tire of crazy Europeans driving on the wrong side of the road and cranky Canadian snowbirds. lol

(I would still move back today. ;-)

I hope you guys have a WONDERFUL, restful family vacation.

Whew, you sure were layin' it on thick for those parents of yours. Love it! And the comment about you wouldn't be you without your "countdown" was right on the money. If you were anything else, I wouldn't check your site morning and night along with my email, now would I??? I will be living vicariously through you, as my current life in Alaska is anything but warm and sunny. Well, sunny a bit but with 20 degree temps, does it really matter? I look forward to getting back to Florida in 2 yrs, 3 months, and ? days. That is when my husband gets out of the Coast Guard then, I will turn into one of those old folks in Florida walking the beach every morning and hitting the "early bird" special every evening. Ahhhhhhhhh, I can smell the salt air now and feel the sand between my toes. Please have a great time for the both of us!!!! Krissy

I love hearing all the beach countdowns, I'm sad to say our trip this summer won't be to the beach. But the kids out voted us and Mickey and Princesses won! I love it just the same!

I'm thinking you still need to do a AGD beach trip. Never been to south florida. I was spoiled by Maui!! If you haven't been, don't go! I promise you would never come home to the rainy cold Indiana

Angie, I hear everything you say!! :) I am close to my family and would not move further away from them at this point in my life. However, if my parents would move to that same area with us, we would be there in a minute! (my mother-in-law is actually waiting on us to tell her we will move and then she will start packing! :)) The weather down there has been fabulous (per my MIL), so you guys just need to have a good time, which I know you will rock it out at the beach as much as possible! Stop by and say 'hi' to Doc's for me and tell the beach behind there that I am comin in a few short weeks!!! :)

Hey girlie, ENJOY, I know i am, in Hawaii right now, but this weather is not like it is in the summer...i LOVE heat, like you!!!

On another note, atleast through the dreary window, the grass looks like it is going green, rather than the brown of your winter....That is the bright side right??
