IMPROMPTU SHOOT

Yesterday evening was dark, gloomy, cloudy, dreary - it was the absolute most PERFECT day - to photograph anything and anyone. So...after Brennen got off the bus, played outside for a while, finished homework, ate, etc., the three of us hopped in the car and headed to a brand new spot that I fell in love with recently. It's a deserted lot just minutes from our home and has been right underneath my nose for years. However, I never even noticed it until a couple of weeks ago when passing by. I saw the open field, the old barn, the old oil container, and the graffiti. Oh the graffiti. It's my favorite part to this whole location. When I spotted the artistic ways of a probable vandalizer, I knew I could go far with it as my back drop. And we did.
Kenidi was in fantastic spirits and loved every nook and cranny of this location. I barely managed to get like two shots of Brennen in before my camera battery went dead. I had forgot to charge it and wouldn't you know it....as soon as the B-ster warmed up in front of the camera, it shuts down on me. I was like "Uh uh - I know you didn't just go dead on me. And Razzi was all like - Ummmmm, yeah I did!" Getting photos of my son is like an act of congress now days. He is 9 years old going on 19 and acts so much like I did when my Mom chased me around with a camera at that age. At some point, you just become O-V-E-R having a camera right up in your face 24/7. Unfortunately for my kids, it is part of my genetic make-up and they just need to "Deal!" :)I am going to be sssooooooooooo biased for a moment. So here it goes...
Ummmmmm.............
My little blessings from God, my kids, ummmm........are just so stinkin' gorgeous that I can't stand it!
OK - I'm a Mom. Please forgive me for gloating there for that moment. Ha ha! No really, I just had so much fun capturing these couple of shots with them yesterday. Although Brennen was straight off the school bus, a wrinkled mess, and trying oh so hard to give me the "Oh Mom-Come on already" look in the picture above....it was still a blast. That was a parenting shot at its finest-captured forever in time. Can't wait to show him that look when his own kids start giving it to him someday. HA!

As you can tell by this lot, it's abandoned. We actually had to hoof ourselves over a chained entrance in order to get in there. Quite the adventure to say the least. I was just waiting for the police to show up and ask what on earth we were doing on someone else's "private" property. I had planned to hold up my camera and tell them that I was with the channel 6 media/news crew or something and that we were just here looking for footage of that bad guy that ran through those woods over there. Then, I was going to grab my kiddo's, my camera, and bolt like flash lightening. Luckily for us, no one ever showed up and inquired about why we were there.

This shot (above) was taken in the car just as we were getting ready to unload and go capture some shots. I looked back at Kenidi at one point and her hair was shining, he eyelashes looked so long and beautiful, and her smile was just beaming, all while playing with her ruffles on her skirt. I wanted to get a side profile shot to show you those lashes again. Amazing!

For today, Friday, I'm off to get ready for a ceremony at Brennen's school this afternoon. He is being recognized for being student of the month again. Hopefully they won't have security waiting at the door for me given the uproar I've caused in the past two weeks regarding the superintendent and his "personal relation skills." Brent told me that they'd probably have armed guards waiting for me as I crossed the threshold of the front entrance. HA! Either way, Mrs. Proud Mama here has the camera all ready to use again. This time though, my battery is fully charged and therefore, Razzi can't spout off to me today with another, "Ummmm....like yeah.....I just went dead!"

Smiling contagiously today....(Thanks Bailee), Angie

I'm afraid if we lived closer we would be inseperatable. I have a addiction to taking pictures, and talking about my kids. I love the shots. I'm getting ready to take the plunge and buy the Nikon D80 or Cannon XTI not sure yet. I'm hoping to be good enough to have this as a hobby and take pictures of my friends kids etc.. Your kids are darling. I love them both, so charming.

Your photos are amazing. I would be willing to travel to wherever you are located and have you shoot photos of me. I NEVER let anyone take photos of me, but at this point, I'm willing to let someone make me look gorgeous!

I appreciate your sweet comment on my blog. I don't see how you owe me anything. I'm just a normal human being.

What I don't understand,--Two things; why won't you get brent to take a picture of you by yourself (for me) and why did that camera not make me look gorgeous? Hmmmmmmm??Looking good! What a great location you found!!!
I'm ALL about the "randomness" of a picture location!!..........I'm taking a two week trip to my hometown in IOWA soon, and my grandparents live on a beautiful farm........I am hoping to get some good pics, but we will see!
Anyways, keep up the photography!!
