WHAT ON EARTH?

Oh heavens...did you feel that? What on earth was it? Is there a tornado coming? Is someone try to break into our house? Get up-go look.... These were all words muttered from each of our mouths here in the Seaman household this morning around 5:38am. Sound asleep and awoken unexpectedly to what? To a bunch of shake, rattle, and rolling....? Yeap. A whole lotta that.
5.4 on a Richter scale actually. Turns out - it was an earthquake.
Obviously this is something that we are "Hoosiers" aren't used to. The last earthquake that registered that strong here in Indiana or close to it was back in 1967. In 1987, we had one that was 5.0 on the scales. However, nothing I've ever felt - felt like what it did this morning. Talk about a scary and very abrupt awakening from a dead sleep. Luckily, Brennen had come down and crawled in bed with us at some point in the night (as he does on most nights) and Kenidi was already in our room. Needless to say, Brennen freaked out. He was scared to pieces. Brent tried to act like we were wasting his last 40 minutes or so of sleep by making him get up to go check on what it was. Initially, he said he had no idea what we were talking about. Later on in the morning, he finally fessed up that he had definitely felt it all but failed to tell the truth. I think he thought if he didn't acknowledge it then maybe the rest of us wouldn't be as scared and we'd just all go back to bed. (which we did) As soon as we turned on the TV this morning, the news confirmed what I had already suspected and said it was. Luckily, there is little to minor damage but no injuries reported so far here in Indiana. The quake center originated out of Southeastern Illinois. Therefore, if you have any loved ones there, you might call to check on them. Kenidi Grace wondered what all of the ruckus was this morning and acted like nothing had ever happened. I on the other hand, was ready to pick up the phone and call each of my neighbors and say..."Please tell me you felt that too." For a short moment in time, you question your sanity and think..."did I really just feel that or do I really need to be admitted to that looney bin after all?"
Speaking of the looney bin, I survived "kindergarten roundup" at the school last night. I almost had someone take a photo of me laying in the middle of the school floor whaling uncontrollably so I could post it here today. However, for those at the school who aren't familiar with me and my blog, it might have come as a real disturbance or shock to them had I faked that out. Ha ha! Can you see it now....me on the floor - fake crying - in the middle of hundreds of families - during kindergarten sign ups? All while someone is taking a photo of it. HA! No one would appreciate it or ever get it if they weren't an AGD blog follower and knew that it was staged. As Kenidi's photo above shows, the joke would have been on them. EH? Not only that but had I gone forth with it, Kathy Dillon would have definitely needed to send an APB or search party out for me. (see her note left after yesterday's post in the comments section below the blog update on Thursday) Too funny Kathy! Thanks for having my back girl and keeping an eye out for me. Gosh knows I need it.
For now, I'm off to a car appt., to have lunch with my Mom today, and to enjoy the sunny 75 degree weather for yet another day here in Indy. Boy, Mother Nature must really be sick these days, eh? Great weather for the hoosiers but earth quakes too. What gives?
TGIF! Much love, Angie

Angie,
So glad you are o.k. I was rolling reading your post! You sounded just like me! In 2003, I had just gotten out of the hospital with postpartum preeclampsia, I was trying to sleep on the couch...just gotten the baby to sleep when an earthquake shook our house. (we live in Georgia) My husband was on the other couch and I wouldn't say anything to him about it for fear that I had lost my mind and they would take me back to the hospital. :) We discovered the next morning that it was a small earthquake. He mentioned that he thought he felt something during the night and I snickered and told him about feeling it and not saying anything. He thought that was hilarious! LOL! Cindi

This morning I was up at 4:30 a.m.(Illinois time) getting ready to go to the health club. I left the house at about 4:45. When I arrived at the club, everyone was asking "Did you feel it?" "Did you know we had an earthquake?" It was the talk of the club.LOL All the tv's had the news stations on. Everyone else seemed to have felt it. I almost wish I would have felt it.
I haven't posted in forever. I am so sad Autumn does not fit into your cute clothes anymore (Size 12). *sniff*
