SOOOOO BEHIND

OK...I'm way behind on posts. I'm still trying to catch up after my three days away this past weekend. Therefore, this post is just a quickie for times sake today. I apologize in advance for any fire engine red lips or orange skin tones. HA! Unfortunately I wasn't able to find my monitor calibration kit in stock at the local camera store near me. Therefore...it has to be ordered. I also didn't jump into photoshop this morning and edit them in there before posting. So...we'll be rockin' the totally over saturated stuff for a bit longer I presume. :) The good news is that these are their real skin tones - and not lightened in photoshop. I'm all about keeping it real whenever possible - even if it does mean that my kid has a tan and thus produces horrific skin tones to manage should you aspire to have a professional looking photograph. (Pro's want the pale white creamy skin tones - not the tan orange ones) Beings that this is just the AGD blog and not my photography blog, I'm making the executive decision to post them anyway. :)

I took these this morning while waiting on the bus to come. Kenidi was in rare form so it was a bit tough to capture even a candid snapshot. However, these will do for now.

She was totally hamming it up this morning. And Brennen - he refused to get in front of the camera after the first shot. Imagine!

Her faces were cracking me up. She is a hoot! She's been very clingy after me having been gone for those three days back to back. I love it though. We laid in bed last night and watched TWILIGHT together. Yeap, she is an "Edward" lover just like her Mama is now! Anyway, she curled up next to me and just snuggled there thru the whole movie. You can tell she was having some withdraws. Unlike with a typical child her age, you can't tell her..."Hey Mommy will be back tonight" and expect that she'll understand it. All she knows is that you are leaving and she doesn't understand that you WILL be back. It breaks my heart. It's always a blessing to come home to her smiles and her deep, deep, hugs. Brennen just misses my break dancing abilities when I'm gone or the sound of my voice not singing and rocking it out to him in the car. Right bud? Ha ha! I'll save that story for a later date. :)

In the meantime, I'm still editing through all of the images I took from this past weekend. They are on their way. I'm sure I'll have to break them up into several days worth of posts. I took over 600 pictures. So...I'm slowly but surely whittling my way through all of them. Fun stuff!
Enjoy your hump day! Angie

Hi Angie - I wouldn't stress too much about skin tone color. Most of your readers really don't notice. I've seriously never noticed fire engine red lips or orange skin tones on your blog. Colors look great to me. I'm not a professional but I certainly take a lot of photos and I use photoshop constantly. I love it. I do digital scrapbooking on it, I run actions, you name it I'm learning it. Not every photo has to be perfect!!!

Ok, where do you get Kenidi's clothes? Way too cute!
Nice to hear that creamy pale skin tones is a plus somewhere! Who knew I was a pro's dream :-)

Thanks Denise. You are such a sweetheart! I appreciate the reminder not to stress about the skin tone rules because trust me...I am! Ha ha! I about DIED when I saw some of my blog images on Leah's computer the other day. The colors were completely off - totally over saturated and no where near what I had edited them to look like. Although calibration is more for my prints matching the labs prints, I still feel naked without it now knowing what I know. Ha ha! Either way, I think here on the AGD blog I am safe to do quickie edits without all of the hooplah of photoshop. Thanks for your support girl!

Hugs, Angie

Heather, You are too funny! Yes, now days the fad is for pro photographers to alter photos so that the skin tone looks more white - pale - and smooth. The whiter the better. Ha ha! I've had several pro's (in my classes) tell me that Kenidi is a "nightmare" example of a client because of her mixed skin tone. (tan with whiter areas within her face) It's hard to treat her images without masking off tons of areas on her because her skin is so tan yet varied in tone. Crazy stuff! I sometimes wish I'd never learned all this because it makes me that much more freaked out and critical when reviewing my pictures.

And as for her clothes, well...this particular plaid outfit came from "Justice." It's one of our favorite stores to shop at locally for her. One reason is because she is so scrawny and they make tiny enough clothes to fit her tiny little shape. She is a bean pole and it's hard to find clothes to fit her at this stage.

And the black converse tennis shoes, they are just from Tar-jay. (Target) We love those little shoes and she sure has gotten our monies worth out of them thus far.

Hope this helps. :)

Hey Angie!!

I just completed my first photo editing class yesterday and it was my first time to hear anything about "callibration". I'm starting to check things out, myself. I'm curious if there's a particular that you were recommended?

I've also been trying to research the web and my camera manual to get more info about how to change where the camera focuses. I have the d90 and I'm having trouble finding the info...do you have any suggestions?

Hope Kenidi and Brennen are having a great second week!! We are on our last week of summer. School starts Monday here in Texas.

Can't wait to see your photos from the weekend!!

Hey Ang, I'm sure on a calibrated monitor colors are way different but keep in mind there are very very few bloggers who have calibrated monitors, like you said it's the professionals. You have me curious now!!!!!! Thanks alot! :) If I calibrate my monitor no one's getting on that particular computer but me. I think your photos are gorgeous and I've not found anything to be critical about. You're creative and quite inspirational for little old me!!!
I plan on participating in Friday Foto Find as long as it lasts!!! It's fun and I'm finding new blogs to read - even better!!
God Bless, Denise.

Glad to see you back! Love the pictures - poor Brennan!

My daughter has the same outfit in the pink and blue plaid. She saw this in the catalog that came to the house and asked the "aunt with no children" if she'd buy her the outfit. Thank goodness for 40% off and then the J bucks. I went back and bought the argyle sweater to she has some options. Love the sneaks - have to hit the Tarjay.
