COLORS OF LIFE

I'm a mixed bag of emotions today.
With that, I must say how very thankful I am to be married to a man who used to own his own landscape business when he was in his early twenties. For that, he takes such pride in his yard and always has it looking so top notch. I used to make fun of him for just how over-neurotic he is when it comes to the look of the lines in the grass after mowing, the way the hedges were trimmed just right, the way each bush was positioned within the brand new mulch 2-3 times a year. Now, because of his perfectionist ways, I find myself becoming more and more like him when it comes to our yard. He has spoiled me. He's made me one of him. Oh the expectations.....
Around our house and our pool area, there are 19 - yes I said 19 - urns and pots like these pictured above that circle our grounds. Brent waters them all faithfully for us on most nights. If I haven't done the watering for him, there are times when he is home from work late and can't get out there to water them until 12:00 midnight. But he still does it - in the dark - with the landscape and pool lights lit up to show him the way.
I love the look of HUGE urns leading up to the grand entry of a home. There is something stellar-something inviting about the look they create. It's all ever so colorful & even more gorgeous when the plants & flowers are overflowing the inside and outside of the urns like flowing waterfalls. Brent got our flowers for the season and planted them all yesterday. The yard was weeded and mowed, we cleaned out our garage and got it all reorganized. Change is possible ahead.
For now, summer is so close I can almost taste it. I cleaned up the pool this week and finally got it where I wanted it. The temps here in Indy are expected to rise up to the mid 80's here soon. Time to crank up the pool heater and start utilizing this backyard oasis that our family has come to love so much in the 5 years we've lived here. I took these pictures yesterday evening as the sun was going down & once Brent had finished his masterpiece - that thing we call "the yard."
This area of our home takes me to some far away land when I'm back there. The birds chirp and sing throughout the privacy trees that line the fence area. When the music is turned off or turned down low, you hear nothing but God and nature that surrounds you. For a moment, I forget that I'm still sitting in a backyard in Indiana.
With my love for the beach so prominent....this is the next best thing to being seaside when you can't technically be by the oceans crashing waves with sand between your toes.
40 days and 40 nights more though. Come the end of June, our family will be seaside again for an extended stay South over the summer. Until then, the urns, the flowers, the birds singing, and God are calling me. They are my "seaside" in the present. Change is lurking. I'm embracing that change and all that God's will has to offer - should "change" eventually come knocking.

XOXOXO, Angie

Angie, the house looks so good. I don't know if its the camera or the one taking the pictures but I could sell my apartment if you took pictures of it! :)
